People thinking they require multi gigabit for a home setup is just marketing at work. A 4k stream is about 25 Mbps. A video conference is 10 at most. Microsoft recommends 2 Mbps for Teams. Suspicious speed tests. I finally got fiber in my area this week and immediately called at&t to install it. I have been very happy with my charter plan but they were 300mbps max. So this is literally my first day on the internet 1000 plan. Speedtest.net is from my same city to an at&t server with 4ms ping. I easily get my 1000~ up and down. Here’s cable versus fiber in a nutshell: fiber has the fastest plans and symmetrical speeds, but cable is much more available and often cheaper. Overall, cable and fiber are both reliable internet connections. Both can reach beyond gigabit speeds (1,000Mbps), but cable doesn’t have the symmetrical (equal) speeds provided with fiber.
